The team is working hard to complete the design of the SCR, the second and brand new electric prototype of the Squadra Corse.
At the same time experimental tests are carried on to validate the mathematical models; this was exactly the purpose of the wind tunnel session performed a couple of weeks ago.
The location of the tests was the Centro Ricerche Fiat Wind Tunnel which allowed us, through several tests, to evaluate important aerodynamics parameters in different conditions with the SC12e who have just retired from his racing career.
To have the possibility to use this facility was an honour for the team and the Squadra Corse wants to thank Fiat, CRF and in particular Eng. Stellato which assisted us during the session and was really kind and helpful with every request we made.
A special thank also to Prof. Eng. Paolo Massai who helped us to arrange the session.
The second official workshop of the Squadra Corse took place in the wonderful location of the Centro Soggiorno Pracatinat in Fenestrelle (TO).
After the positive experience of last year in Sestriere we were sure of the importance of team building activities soon after the formation of the new team. And what a perfect occasion to this purpose to stay a couple of days on the top of a mountain in a warm hotel immersed in the snow. The snow has become a constant presence at the Squadra Corse workshops and considering the good results obtained in the past season we hope that is a good wishing sign for the next season too.
A positive aspect has been the participation of more than 50 members that with their presence have guaranteed the good outcome of the team building week end. A lot of activities have been carried on during the two days with both working activities and amusing moments. During the day the more experienced team members gave several presentations over different topics such as the competitions, the static events, the safety procedures etc. to make the newcomers more familiar with the world of Formula SAE. Moreover a couple of tutorials about softwares have been made in order to introduce the usage of the computer aided design software used in designing the vehicle and the FEA simulation ones.
In addition to the working and presentation activities we had the chanche to relax and to have nice moments of aggregation that allowed all the Squadra Corse members to know better each other; in particular on Saturday night when we have organized a party. The conference room used during the day for the presentation has been transformed for such purpose in a disco to dance and to spend a really funny and pleasant time together.
Without any doubt the “second team building workshop” of Squadra Corse has been a beautiful experience for all the participants and has set a starting point to work perfectly together as a team in order to face all the challanges that the new season will present. A special thanks to the staff of the Centro Soggiorno Pracatinat who has been extremely kind and helpful in every situation.
Ended the recruiting phase, the new team is
now formed and ready to face new challenges as they arise.
The process of selection of the candidates gave excellent results; of the 340 who had
applied online only 46 were chosen among boys and girls divided into the various areas of
interest that will be added to the approximately twenty people already members of the team that have renewed their commitment.
46 new guys as well as 46 is the historic number of the racing team! We hope
that this curious coincidence is a good wish for the season just started.
The team is now extremely diverse with students from 10
different degrees of the Polytechnic and 12 nationalities.
The big interdisciplinarity and convergence of different learning and personal experiences within the team are undoubtedly a strong point in carrying out a engineering project at 360 degrees as to design and produce a competition car.
An aspect not to be underestimated for the success of the season is to create a united and cohesive team capable of working in an organic way on the project.
This will be crucial to achieve the ambitious goals that the team has fixed, because after the excellent results of the season just ended SC is ready to challenge the best teams on an equal footing in international competitions Formula SAE.
The team is already working on new project SCR confirming the choice of the ”full
electric” vehicle that after only one year has been successful from all points of view.
Are ambitious goals of the season but the team is more motivated than ever to make the
best to achieve them.
The excellent results obtained give the right boost to the team that is going in the next
season to hit at least the podium in all events that will take part and up to all to hit the top step, missed for a few points this year, in the Italian event.
